Tree pollarding is the process of removing the majority of upper tree limbs, to promote concentrated new growth on the main stem.

This process is not as common today and can have a very pleasing aesthetic ornamental  look. Pollarding has become a dying art in recent years however, if performed correctly by experienced tree surgeons, it can have a very positive impact on landscapes and gardens.

Pollarding can also provide bio diversity and help stabilise riverbanks, as well as for aesthetic reasons.
